Egypt
Egyptian football club Al Ahly has parted ways with coach Jose Peseiro.
The announcement was made on Monday on the club’s Twitter page saying his contract had been terminated.
55-year-old Peseiro joined Al Ahly in October and according to the club’s board, he was dismissed because he was unable to withstand pressure and criticism.
“The board has decided to terminate Peseiro’s contract after he asked not to continue his mission,” Al Ahly said in a statement on their website. The club’s president Mahmoud Taher tried to persuade the coach to stay but Peseiro confessed that Al Ahly fans no longer wanted his presence after the club registered poor results.
Reports suggest that the Portuguese coach had decided to leave so as to become a coach at Porto, a Portuguese club which also sacked its manager Julen Lopetegui about 2 weeks ago.
